The Coimbatore Institute Technology was established in the year 1956 by Shri. V. Rangaswamy Naidu Educational Trust. "Nature in the Service of Man" is the motto of this Institution. The mission of CIT is to impart high quality education and training to its students to make them world class engineers with a foresight to the changes and problems and pioneers to offer innovative solutions. CIT is a government aided institution affiliated to Anna university. The Institute was granted autonomous status in the year 1987 and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education. All the undergraduate programmes in this Institution are accredited by National Board of Accreditation of AICTE.
The Department of Chemical Engineering of Coimbatore Institute of Technology in association with the Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is conducting this two-day conference on "Biotechnology for Human Welfare".
